RUNNING IN THE RAIN

NEED WASHING?

A little girl had been shopping with her Mom in Target. She must have been 6 years old, this beautiful red haired, freckle faced image of innocence. It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the top of rain gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the earth it has no time to flow down the spout. We all stood there under the awning and just inside the door of the Target.

We waited, some patiently, others irritated because nature messed up their hurried day. I am always mesmerized by rainfall. I got lost in the sound and sight of the heavens washing away the dirt and dust of the world. Memories of running, splashing so carefree as a child came pouring in as a welcome reprieve from the worries of my day.

The little voice was so sweet as it broke the hypnotic trance we were all caught in 'Mom let's run through the rain,' she said. 'What?' Mom asked.

'Let's run through the rain!' She repeated

'No, honey. We'll wait until it slows down a bit,' Mom replied.

This young child waited about another minute and repeated: 'Mom, let's run through the rain,'

'We'll get soaked if we do,' Mom said.

'No, we won't, Mom. That's not what you said this morning,' the young girl said as she tugged at her Mom's arm

This morning? When did I say we could run through the rain and not get wet?

'Don't you remember? When you were talking to Daddy about his cancer, you said, 'If God can get us through this, he can get us through anything!'

The entire crowd stopped dead silent. I swear you couldn't hear anything but the rain. We all stood silently... No one came or left in the next few minutes... Mom paused and thought for a moment about what she would say. Now some would laugh it off and scold her for being silly. Some might even ignore what was said. But this was a moment of affirmation in a young child's life.. A time when innocent trust can be nurtured so that it will bloom into faith.

'Honey, you are absolutely right. Let's run through the rain. If GOD let's us get wet, well maybe we just needed washing,' Mom said.

Then off they ran. We all stood watching, smiling and laughing as they darted past the cars and yes, through the puddles. They held their shopping bags over their heads just in case. They got soaked. But they were followed by a few who screamed and laughed like children all the way to their cars.

And yes, I did.. I ran. I got wet. I needed washing.

Circumstances or people can take away your material possessions, they can take away your money, and they can take away your health. But no one can ever take away your precious memories....So, don't forget to make time and take the opportunities to make memories everyday. To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven. I HOPE YOU STILL TAKE THE TIME TO RUN THROUGH THE RAIN.

Take the time to live!!!

Yes, this is an old one but if you read it again I know you were blessed. Share God’s love with someone today.

BLESSED IS THE NATION WHOSE GOD IS THE LORD

“Because God is Creator, Lord, Savior, and Deliverer, he is worthy of our trust and praise. Because he is faithful and his Word is dependable, we can rejoice and sing, giving thanks and praise.” (Tyndale LAB notes)

Take time to read Psalm 33. I share with you verse 12. “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.”

I ask you today is God the Lord of our nation. I ask you if God is your Lord. My sole desire as I write is to uplift Christ and fellow Christians and share the love of Jesus with others. My concern is are we as individuals and as a nation allowing the world to take the place of God and crowding out the future blessings he has in store for those who remember him.

“Over the centuries, many believers, overcome by an awareness of their own sins, have found in the works of the penitential (confession) psalms a ray of hope. The psalmists shared with God both the depth of their sorrow and repentance, as well as the height of joy at being forgiven. They rejoiced in the knowledge that God would respond to confession and repentance with complete forgiveness. We, who live on the other side of the cross of Christ, can rejoice even more because we understand more. God has shown us that he is willing to forgive because his judgment on sin was satisfied by Christ’s death on the cross.” (Tyndale LAB notes)

We see throughout the Bible and in our history how God blesses those who rejoice in him and embrace the word of the Lord. We know from this same psalm that God loves righteousness and judgment and that the earth is full of his goodness. Read with me verses 18-22.

18 Behold the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

20 Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield.

21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.

22 Let thy mercy, O lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

This is my hearts desire for all nations. In the United States of America as we get set to celebrate another year as a nation on July 4th 2010 may we ever be mindful of God and his word. God has been so good to us and he will continue to bless us if we invite him to be our God and let there be no other God’s before him. He is a jealous God and we will be measured and judged by him. Let us join in proclaiming O Lord, thou art my GOD.

FATHER

“How far is heaven when can I go? I want my daddy, he’s there I know. How far is heaven when can I go? I want my daddy to hold me tight.” I may have botched the song but the thought is right. Hard to believe my dad has been with a God fearing earthly father that taught me about God by the life he lived before me and others. I have many fond memories watching my dad raise his hand and say “praise the Lord.” I can still see him as he allowed the spirit of God to bless him in local services”

Thank you Lord for a dad that loved you and loved children; I can still see him as he took his gospel walnut and taught little one’s about Jesus and led them to the Lord. He loved to get out and run and play with them even when he suffered physical pain. He was there for us and them and many who attended his celebration home 25 years ago were a living testimony of the love he had shown them in their life.

Yes, it’s that time of year to honor our dads. Take time to remember, take time to show your love and take time to care. I have friends who don’t have fond memories of their dad and I always say to them become a good dad to your children and they will bless you some day.

God has been so good to me, I’m thankful for his love and care and tender mercies. I’m thankful he sent his son to die for me and cover my sins. I want to be a good child and lift my voice in adoration and praise to him each day he gives me in this world.

Have a good Father’s Day, be a good dad, adopt a dad if you don’t have one and be good to him this special day. You will be blessed. And oh yes, enjoy your children as they pamper you with their love.

FAITHFUL SUPPORTER'S 632061210

Faithful Supporter’s

It is thrilling to know our community is faithful to support our Veterans and our service men and women around the world. In the past few days our local Vietnam Veterans group has had two very successful Annual projects because people still care and support even when our economy shows great need of improvement.

In our recent golf tournament we had more sponsors, more players and wonderful support allowing us to have funds to support local Veteran projects and needs.

Also, as I write our Wal-Mart project is ongoing and brought in more funds yesterday than we have done in several past projects for the whole weekend. This is just how my community is when the chips are down.

Did you know God is our faithful supporter each day when we place our cares and needs in his hands and leave it alone? He said he would never leave us nor forsake us as we are faithful to him. My problem is at times I place it in God’s hand and then pick it back up.

My friend once you place it in God’s hands leave it there, “Take your burdens to the Lord and leave it there, if you trust and never doubt he will surely bring you out, take your burdens to the Lord and leave it there.

Psalm 5

1Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation.

2Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.

3My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

4For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.

5The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.

6Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.

7But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.

8Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.

9For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.

10Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.

11But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

12For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

Praise the Lord, let us rejoice and ever shout for joy. Have a good day.
