WAS JESUS THE REASON FOR YOUR SEASON

Christmas has come and gone for another year. As you reflect on this Christmas Season can you see the things you did reflecting Christ. There have been visits from our kids, visits to our parents and grandparents. Many hugs and kisses as we go our way.

Everyone has been jolly and wished others “Merry Christmas” as we go on our hurried way. We have opened our gifts and given our gifts hoping we gave just the right thing or received what we hinted to someone we wanted.

Some have gone to Christmas programs at school and church and rejoiced as the Christ child is lifted high to the world. In the midst of all of this I hope you took time for Jesus and did just what our Lord would have you do.

I enjoyed our time at church as we opened the gifts brought for Christ that was placed under our tree. There were simple things like Kleenex and paper towels and church supplies that will help in the year ahead. We even took some of the cash and bought windshield washer to put in our bathrooms to help them not freeze this winter.

Being on Face book has been a blessing because we got to see and hear from so many of you as you shared pictures or told about your love for Jesus in this Christmas season.

Then, I like many of you had moments of remembering our love ones that left us this year. So many of you knew just what to share to lift some of us up in this moment of sadness in our lives and we are thankful.

I believe for many of you Jesus was the reason for the season as you helped your family and friends and strangers have a joyous Christmas Season. Whether it was a hug, a gift card, a kind note or just a simple I love you I believe that is what Jesus would have done.

One of my friends had his second Christmas celebration his return to Christ. One shared they were on the streets of Denver and several accepted Christ. Wow! What joy filled my soul as I read of souls coming home to Jesus.

Wherever you were, whatever you did to share Jesus is special. My prayer would be we would remember this ole world and all we endeavor to do in the year ahead like it was Christmas.

I KNOW SEVERAL OF YOU ARE SPENDING THIS CHRISTMAS WITHOUT A LOVE ONE FOR THE FIRST TIME. FOR ME IT’S MY MOTHER LOIS VIOLA (LEE) DASHER AND MY UNCLE JESSE HUGH LEE.

I CAME ACROSS THIS POEM ON FB AND IT BLESSED ME AND HELPED ME TODAY. PERHAPS IT WILL HELP YOU AS YOU TAKE A MOMENT AND REMEMBER. TEARS ARE OKAY I HAVE THEM IN MY HEART AS I SHARE BUT I’M ASSURED TEARS ARE A LANGUAGE GOD UNDERSTANDS.

I SEE THE COUNTLESS CHRISTMAS TREES AROUND THE WORLD BELOW, WITH TINY LIGHTS, LIKE HEAVEN’S STARS, REFLECTING ON THE SNOW.

THE SIGHT IS SO SPECTACULAR, PLEASE WIPE AWAY THAT TEAR, FOR I AM SPENDING CHRISTMAS WITH JESUS CHRIST THIS YEAR.

I HEAR THE MANY CHRISTMAS SONGS THAT PEOPLE HOLD SO DEAR, BUT THE SOUNDS OF MUSIC CAN’T COMPARE WITH THE CHRISTMAS CHOIR UP HERE.

I HAVE NO WORDS TO TELL YOU, THE JOY THEIR VOICES BRING, FOR IT IS BEYOND DESCRIPTION, TO HEAR THE ANGELS SING.

I KNOW HOW MUCH YOU MISS ME I SEE THE PAIN INSIDE YOUR HEART, BUT I AM NOT SO FAR AWAY. WE REALLY AREN’T APART. SO BE HAPPY FOR ME DEAR ONES. YOU KNOW I HOLD YOU DEAR, AND BE GLAD I’M SPENDING CHRISTMAS, WITH JESUS CHRIST THIS YEAR.

I SEND YOU EACH A SPECIAL GIFT, FROM MY HEAVENLY HOME ABOVE. I SEND YOU EACH A MEMORY OF, MY UNDYING LOVE. AFTER ALL “LOVE” IS THE GIFT, MORE PRECIOUS THAN PURE GOLD, IT WAS ALWAYS IMPORTANT IN THE STORES JESUS TOLD.

MOM! WHAT’S GOING ON IN HEAVEN?

Since mom went to heaven this year I’ve missed her and I’m just wondering in my mind if I could ask her what is going on in heaven this year. I know she is with my dad and her mom and dad and several of her brothers and sisters. I know she is smiling and happy and maybe playing the ole organ or piano for Jesus.

What will Heaven be like? Well

God himself will be with us.

God will wipe away every tear.

There will be no more death, mourning, crying, or pain.

The glory of the Lord will provide its light.

Nothing impure will enter it.

No longer will there be any curse.

The throne of God will be in the city, and we will serve him.

We will reign forever and ever.

But mom just what are you doing for Christmas? Well maybe this song will help me understand. Whatever you are doing I know you are enjoying it and I’m so proud God let us have you on earth for 89 short years to bless us and teach us His love and instill in us what we need to do to meet you in Heaven.

This song rings out loud and strong and may help you understand that Heaven will be worth it all. Folks Jesus is coming soon. In fact Revelation closes with this wonderful promise that HE IS COMING SOON. I rejoice with mom and those gone on before and I am eager for that wonderful day.

TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS HISTORY LESSON

So here is your history for today. This knowledge was shared with me and I found it interesting and enlightening and now I know how that strange song became a Christmas Carol...so Merry Christmas Everyone!

What in the world do leaping lords, French hens, swimming swans, and especially the partridge who won't come out of the pear tree have to do with Christmas? This week, I found out.

From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics. It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality which the children could remember.

The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.
Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments.
Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.
The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John.
The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament.
The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation.
Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit--Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy.
The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes.
Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit--Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control.
The ten lords a-leaping were the Ten Commandments.

The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.
The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed.
