I can't believe it; this is the Last Day of 2014 #88312312014

I can’t believe it; this is the Last Day of 2014

No, it can’t be? This is the last day of 2014? I must be getting old because I can’t remember where all this year has gone. The “ole” folks use to say the older you get the faster life passes you by. Hum, do I have to accept I am one of them “ole” folks now?

Don’t laugh at me, some of you know what I mean. Whew! It seems the year just begin but then, I think a moment and begin to remember all that has taken place and I guess it is the end of 2014.

So, Lord, thank you for this another year on planet earth and thank you for being with me each step of the way. You know, I had a scare or two but you kept your promise and did leave me.

I want to thank you for the days I was able to walk and sing, and listen to your still small voice and hear the birds and other creatures sing unto you. Thank you Lord for feeling your spirit as I communed with you during these precious times as you gave me strength for each day.

Lord, thank you for helping us as we had some hard times with my daughter and her cancer and my son and his continual battle with his legs. I also thank you for helping my wife with her legs and feet and me with my aches and pains and eye surgery and dental situations. You are a great big wonderful God and I just want to give you a hug.

Lord, thank you for helping our little flock at church as they overcame struggles in their lives this year. We are still here, we still come each Sunday to lift your name in praise and receive strength for yet another day. Thank you Lord.

And now here it is another end of the year and we are still here, Lord we haven’t forgotten your word; we are still looking for your return and believe it is near. Help us as we finish this year to not grow weary or faint but to rest upon your promises and lean not to our own understanding of the day but to trust and obey you as you direct our path.

Well, here I go out to use up this last day you have blessed me with in 2014, I hope to see you soon in 2015. I’m excited about what you have in store for me. Thank you again for being there and being here. I love you.

Now That Christmas Is Over What Will You Do? #88212272014

SURFING WITH JESUS
Pastor Gene A. Dasher, Sr.
Web Site:  http://surfingwithjesus.org    #88212272014

Now That Christmas Is Over What Will You Do?

I plan to follow God’s word and take time to do as the Psalmist that wrote:
Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

God blessed me with his son and continues to provide all my needs and many of the desires of my heart. It is wonderful to be with my family and be able to talk about God and share his love with each other.

Was everything rosy this year? No, but God was there for us and is there for us as he brought us thru another Christmas season. As I shared with some of you today, “Wonderful Christmas, so thankful I am debt free, Jesus came and paid the price for all my sins, and I also had all of my Christmas paid in full because he made a way for that too. Jesus is so good, I love being free.”

I simply love God and love knowing Jesus is in my heart and the Holy Ghost leads me day by day. With all the devil conjures up in this world to tempt us to turn our back on God I am thankful that I know that I know that God is real , yes he is real in my soul. I cannot comprehend how anyone can deny him and reject Jesus. You must have taken a crazy pill I can’t swallow. Thank you Lord for the peace in my heart right now because you live.

My bible just fell open on Isaiah 40:27-31, I feel impressed to share the NLT this time.
27 O Jacob, how can you say the Lord does not see your troubles?
O Israel, how can you say God ignores your rights?
28 Have you never heard?
    Have you never understood?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
29 He gives power to the weak
    and strength to the powerless.
30 Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.
31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.

I cry unto you the word of God, hear his voice, heed his call, receive him and share him with others that have need of him today. The song says “Jesus is the one, yes he’s the only one, let him have his way until the day is done, and when he speaks you know the clouds will have to go, just because he loves you so.”

Yes, God is speaking to YOU. My prayer is for you to yield not to Satan but to the Holy Spirit as conviction grips your heart and leads you to God.

What Is Your Gift for Christ #88012202014

SURFING WITH JESUS
Pastor Gene A. Dasher, Sr.
Web Site:  http://surfingwithjesus.org    #88012202014

What Is Your Gift for Christ

Over two thousand years ago, Jesus was born in Bethlehem. His life was threatened as a babe because the rulers were afraid of a King that would come to perhaps take their place. However, Jesus represented more than a mere earthly leader and throne that would decay and vanish away.

The prophets foretold of this event and how he would one day rule the world but man could not imagine what kind of Kingship that would be. Man is still struggling to understand his fullness to come.

So, Jesus, the Son of God came and his gift to you was his dying on the cross for your sins that you may inherit eternal life thru  him and be with him forever. Wow! He gave his all. What will you give to him as a gift as we celebrate his birth?

Many Psalms come to mind when I ponder on this thought. Read with me.

Psalms 121:1-2 “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.  My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.”

Psalms 100 “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.”

Psalms 29: 1-2 “Give unto the Lord, O ye mighty, give unto the Lord glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.”

Psalm 31:19 “Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!”

Psalms 34:1 “I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

Psalms 39:1 “I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.”

Psalms “73:28 “I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.”

Psalms 91: 1-2 “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”

Psalms 95:6-7 “O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker. For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. Today if ye will hear his voice…”

Psalms 103:12 “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”

I could go on and on because I love to tell the story of Jesus and his love. Lord my hope my prayer is a big thank you, Happy Birthday and I just want to lift my voice and praise you and do my best to live a life pleasing unto you until the day Good calls me home. Looking forward to seeing you face to face some sweet day and hearing you say well done.

What Was It Like Christmas Week #88112232014

SURFING WITH JESUS
Pastor Gene A. Dasher, Sr.

What Was It Like Christmas Week

It is two days before Christmas and it is a dreary rainy day. I wonder what it was like as Joseph and Mary with child made the trip to Bethlehem to pay their taxes. I’m sure Mary had some discomfort being so close to delivery. But they faithfully made their journey to comply with the laws of the land.

As we continue our journey this week trying to squeeze every minute into our busy season before stores close early, I wonder if we can even imagine what this young girl was thinking or experiencing. What would she do if the baby came while on this journey? Where would she deliver Jesus? We know the prophets foretold it would be in Bethlehem. Was Mary and Joseph aware of this as they traveled?

Well, ready or not Baby Jesus came just as was promised by God. God’s promises always come to past. Jesus became the Savior of the world and he is not in the manager today. He grew up to be a young man and he gave his life for you and me.

Now, we have two things we can do. We can accept Jesus or reject him. There are two promises that go with this too. If you accept Jesus, confess your sin, receive him as your Lord and Savior he has promised you eternal life. If you reject him you will face judgment day without  Jesus and be placed into hell forever and ever.

I choose Jesus, how about you? So, as you continue your business this week, remember God loved you so much that he gave his only begotten son so you could rejoice around the throne with him when this life is over.

Sing it with me “I can hear the brush of angel’s wings, I see glory on each face, surely the presence of the Lord is in this place.” Merry Christmas.

Christmas Time Is Coming #87912142014

Christmas Day Is Coming

Christmas day is coming and it will not be long. Just what does that mean to you? Are you ready? Will you celebrate the birth of Jesus our Lord?

What a beautiful time to show love and cherish the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. Everyone is busy and rushing around to get the best present for family and friends. It is wonderful to see the joy that fills the air this time of year. It could be Christmas for me every day if it would bring this good out in everyone.

I know we may spend too much time getting the gifts but we all love to open them up and see what we have for this year. What kind of gift did you get Jesus this year? He gave his all for you; will you give your all to him? Jesus wants you to take time to share his love for you to your world so they may experience what you have down in your heart.

This makes me want to sing the song dad would lead us in and it brings tears of joy as I visualize him singing “Into my heart, into my heart, come into my heart, Lord Jesus, Come in today, come into stay, come into my heart Lord Jesus.”

At our church we will be placing gifts under the tree for Christ, they will be opened next Sunday morning; I can’t wait to see what everyone gives him this year. This tradition my family and I have done at churches we pastor has been a blessing as people bring anything from paper towels and toilet paper, to tissues and other church supplies. Some have brought new tables and even an organ one time.

We have lots of fun and it really helps the church the next year. Well let’s be about sharing Jesus and get going. Have a good week in the Lord.

This Is The Day #87812072014

SURFING WITH JESUS
Pastor Gene A. Dasher, Sr.
Web Site:  http://surfingwithjesus.org    #87812072014

This Is The Day

Hum? Yes, do you know that Pearl Harbor was attacked to throw us into WW2 on this day? It’s sad to say that many of our people today don’t remember what happened on this day in 1941.

Kind of reminds me of the Lord’s Day, many today don’t remember to get out of bed and go to church and thank God for what he has done for us. We are a blessed nation and God has favored us. Let us take time to remember what he brought us through and give glory to his name.

I had a lot of family in the military in this war, my mom had three brothers serve and four spouses of her sisters with my dad do  service during this time, all but one made it thru this time of war. All served proudly and signed that blank check to ensure we can arise and go to the house of God today.

When I’m around town and see a WW2 hat on a Veteran I love to say thank you and listen to their stories. If you really want to learn about this time in our history take time and allow them to bless you. Many are leaving us so you need to hurry to learn firsthand information.

One local story I always love is on the hill around 8th and 10th Street off Benton Pike as you come into Cleveland, Tennessee. It got the nickname of Holy Hill. I’m told you could go into that area anytime and hear mothers crying out to God for the safety of our men and women. What a testimony to a generation that knew how to reach the throne of Grace.

Lord help me, help us this day remember how blessed I am and we are as individuals and as a Nation. I think I’m going to get out of here make it to Sunday School and church on time this morning. Hope you will join me.

Lord, thank you for this day, thank you for your son Jesus, I celebrate his birth and thank you for sending him and thank you Jesus for dying for me that I might have Salvation, looking forward to your return, it will be a great day.

Spend One Hour Praising God #87109132014

Spend One Hour Praising God

My name is God. You hardly have time for me. I love you and will always bless you. I am always with you. I need you to spend an hour of your time with me, don’t pray, just praise.

Why do we feel sleepy in prayer, but stay awake through a 3 hour movie?

Why are we so bored when we look at the HOLY BOOK but find it easy to read other books?

Why are prayers getting smaller?

Why is it so easy to worship a celebrity, but very difficult to engage with God?

Think about it, are you going to ignore this because you think you will get laughed at? 80% will not do it.

God said if you deny me in front of your friends, I will deny you on the Day of Judgment.

When one door closes, God opens two. Has God opened doors for you?

God has no BLACKBERRY but he's my favorite contact.

He is not on FACEBOOK but he is my best friend.

He is not on TWITTER but I still follow Him, and even without the INTERNET I am always connected to him.

He is not on Gmail but he's always online.

Has God been good to you!

God has been very good to me. God has given me a wonderful family, great friends and so much more. How about you?

WILL YOU JOIN ME IN TAKING TIME TO PRAISE HIM FOR ONE HOUR THIS WEEK?

Turn Aside to See, He Will Set Your Bush on Fire
Meditation in God’s Word Part 3

Rejoice with me before the Lord as we continue to mediate in God’s word. He is alive, my God is real for I can feel him in my soul. He has washed and made me whole and I thank him for his love.

Psalm 104:33-34 (KJV) 33 I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. 34 My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the Lord.

Psalm 119:15-16, 23-25, 48, 77-78 (KJV) 15 I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways. 16 I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word. 23 Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes.24 Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counselors. 25 My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word. 48 My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes.

Psalm 119:77-78 (KJV) 77 Let thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live: for thy law is my delight. 78 Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a cause: but I will meditate in thy precepts.

Psalm 119:97-99 (KJV) 97 O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day. 98 Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.99 I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.

Thank you again Lord for your love and your care, thank you for your tender mercies to me each day. Glory, glory, glory be to your holy name.

Turn Aside to See, He Will Set Your Bush on Fire
Meditation in God’s Word Part 4

Ah! I hope you are still with me. This is the last part on this thought. It was too long to do in one setting. As you allow God to set your bush on fire remember it is all about him and not you. If you are hungry God will fill you with his manna.

Psalm 119:145-149King James Version (KJV) 145 I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O Lord: I will keep thy statutes. 146 I cried unto thee; save me, and I shall keep thy testimonies. 147 I prevented the dawning of the morning, and cried: I hoped in thy word. 148 Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word. 149 Hear my voice according unto thy lovingkindness: O Lord, quicken me according to thy judgment.

Psalm 143:5 (KJV) I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands.

Philippians 4:8-9 (KJV) Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

1 Timothy 4:13-16 (KJV) 13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. 14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. 15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

I hope you have been fed as you read and meditated in God’s word. I encourage you to continue as we make preparation to pray.

Turn Aside to See, He Will Set Your Bush on Fire
Meditation in God’s Word Part 2

I give you the same challenge today I gave my congregation last week. Pray for one hour for YOU. Commune with God and allow him to speak to YOU. I think you will find it a blessing and you will cry out GLORY a time or two.
Let’s continue our scriptures now.

Psalm 5:1-3 (KJV) 5 Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation. Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray. My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

Psalm 19:14 (KJV) 14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.
Psalm 49:3 (KJV) My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.

Psalm 63:6-8 (KJV) When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice. My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

Psalm 77:12-15 (KJV) 12 I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.13 Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?14 Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.15 Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.

Isn’t it wonderful to experience God as you meditate in and on HIS word.

Turn Aside to See, He Will Set Your Bush on Fire

These words are often used “He will set your fields on fire.” We love to be inspired and sing God’s praises and this is all wonderful, in fact I want to say GLORY. This week as I’ve sought God I have decided it’s time to get back to the simple thing that brings us to the place he will set our bush on fire.

What will do it? I think it is prayer and in this light I share scriptures and thoughts on Preparation for Prayer. These thoughts and verses were used by the ABM Department of Pastoral Care of the COGOP, Published by: J. Countryman Publishers Houston Texas and printed in Belgium
Meditation in God’s Word Part 1

Joshua 1:8King James Version (KJV)
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Psalm 1:1-3King James Version (KJV)
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Think on these verses today and allow God to feed you. He loves you.

GOD’S GREATNESS and MAN’S WEAKNESS #86608152014

GOD’S GREATNESS and MAN’S WEAKNESS

Oh, hear the word of the Lord. I was sitting in a Chiropractor’s office this morning and looking at a Gideon Bible and was blessed with this topic. Only 31 verses but read with me and let the word of God saturate you and lift you up today.

Isaiah 40 King James Version (KJV)
40 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the Lord's hand double for all her sins.
The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the Lord bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!
10 Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
13 Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counsellor hath taught him?
14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?
15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.
16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.
17 All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.
18 To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?
19 The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.
20 He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.
21 Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?
22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
23 That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.
24 Yea, they shall not be planted; yea, they shall not be sown: yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth: and he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.
25 To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.
26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.
27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over from my God?
28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not
faint.

What more can I say? Now that you’ve read it will you pray with me that we practice this lesson and grow in the Lord? He alone is great and we are weak. The songs says “I am weak but thou art strong, Jesus keep me from all harm, daily walking close to thee, let it be dear Lord, let it be.”

REMEMBER

“If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1John 1:9
