JOEL WARNS OF THE APPROACHING JUDGMENT

Recently, many were intrigued and some excited about the rapture foretold by an 89 year old. Now, a Christian should know better because the Bible clearly tells us no man will know the time or the hour. However, we need to daily be prepared and look for Christ return. In a moment in the twinkling of the eye it will come to pass.

This brings me to my thought for the day and I will be using some comment from my Life Application Study Bible by Nelson. Join me in reading Joel 2:1, 3, 12-16.

1Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; 3A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.

12Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:

13And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

14Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the LORD your God?

15Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly:

16Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.

Joel was still describing the devastating effects of the locust plague. The alarm showed that the crisis was at hand. However Joel implied that the locust plague was only the forerunner of an even greater crises if the people didn’t turn from their sins.

God told the people to turn to him while there was still time. Time was running out and destruction would soon be upon them. Time is also running out for us. Because we don’t know when our lives will end, we should turn to the Lord now, while we can. Don’t let anything hold you back from turning to God.

This old world as we know it will pass away, we can look at devastation on every hand in every land today and it should encourage us to look up for behold our redemption draweth neigh. Some days I wonder what it is going to take for our world and our nation to return to God. With all the floods, earthquakes, tornados and continual moral decay I don’t understand why our people don’t run to God and we find our churches overflowing with everyone seeking a closer walk with our Master.

Discouraged? No, I’m encouraged because I know the return of our Lord is closer today than it was yesterday. Seek Him now while it is day and receive of Him while His hand is outstretched to you. Jesus loves you and longs for you to return that love to Him. Have a good day as you worship and receive manifold blessings from our Lord.

REMEMBER

“If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1John 1:9

WHAT’S MEMORIAL DAY ALL ABOUT

To some it is just a Holiday, a time to go to the lake, a time to camp out, a time to relax and have some family time. There is nothing wrong with any of these things and I hope you have a great time. All I ask is that you take time to REMEMBER!

Take time to remember how blessed we are to have a Savior and how blessed we are to know a true and living God. Without God we would not have this life we enjoy. Without him we could and would be nothing.

Take time to pray for those who are facing this special day for the first time without their son, daughter, father, mother, husband, grandfather, grandmother or friend who gave their life so that we may have this freedom we enjoy.

Take time to be grateful for all who have given their life and for those who continue to give their daily life that we may enjoy this day in peace. Remember that Veteran who is still living that lives each day with aches and pains that may or may not be war related. They did this for you and me.

Many families have given over the years and I hope to be eternally grateful. I’m thankful for wives and families such as my wife who prayed for me, stood by me, sent me hundreds of tapes and letters while I was in Vietnam to lift me up. I often think she suffered more than I did just not knowing what was going on from day to day.

No, we did not have the technology we have today to talk to our love ones. When I left on that plane I would not be able to reach her for a year. We did meet on R&R but that was it. I did stay up all night one time trying to get her on ham radio to no avail. Thank you precious wife and oh yes we are still married after 46 years and I love her more today than ever.

So, as I close I just ask you to remember and have a good day. If you know Jesus personally you are blessed indeed. If you do not know Jesus take time to celebrate with the angels by receiving Christ and walk with him the rest of your life.

REMEMBER

“If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1John 1:9

WHEN THE STORM PASSES OVER

April 27th 2011, a day and night to remember; hundreds of tornados hit across my part of the world destroying thousands of homes and taking hundreds of lives. This day started out like any other day but ended tragically for many a soul.

Now that the storm is passed neighbor is helping neighbor to try and restore their lives. I’ve always been proud of Cleveland Tennessee and Bradley County but true love is being demonstrated like never before. It’s amazing to hear testimonies of those hurt the most as they are thankful for God and all everyone is doing.

My family and I were blessed with little damage and we are grateful, just a few inches and my daughter would have lost her home, just a block and we would have lost our home, and my son missed by just a little bit. It really makes you think when you can look down the street and see damage and go a mile in any direction and see homes destroyed.

One of my Veteran friends took me to where his house stood and walked me through with nothing but the foundation left, it’s hard to take and we just took time with each other and prayed. All one can do is show love in times like these and it has freely flowed in all our community.

Yes the storm has passed over but there is much to do to help one another in the days and months ahead, many homes will just have to be bulldozed and families will start anew.

Sometimes I wonder what it takes to get our attention, this event certainly did. We lost nine lives but oh how close it was to losing so many others. We are thankful God is near when we call upon him. One testimony a man had his family go to their shelter; he stood outside and asked God to move it and it did sparing their lives even though they lost their home. He was thankful God spared their lives.

Tragedy continues to happen throughout our world, it just makes me want to make sure I am ready and look for Christ return. Folks He is coming, morning or noon or night I know not but rest assured He is coming soon.

It’s been almost three weeks now, we have power back, and we have our cable but still no phones. I’m thankful for friends that put us up a few days and friends who took our freezer goods and saved them for us. Thank you Lord, thanks for all you have done and are doing for us and our community.

WET PANTS (Are you a Susie)

Come with me
To a third grade classroom..... There is a
Nine-year-old kid sitting at his desk and all of
A sudden, there is a puddle between his feet and
The front of his pants are wet. He thinks his
Heart is going to stop because he cannot
Possibly imagine how this has happened. It's
Never happened before, and he knows that when
The boys find out he will never hear the end of
It. When the girls find out, they'll never speak
To him again as long as he lives.

The boy
Believes his heart is going to stop; he puts his
Head down and prays this prayer, 'Dear God, this
Is an emergency! I need help now! Five minutes
From now I'm dead Meat.'

He looks up
From his prayer and here comes the teacher with
A look in her eyes that says he has been discovered.

As the
Teacher is walking toward him, a class mate
Named Susie is carrying a goldfish bowl that is
Filled with water. Susie trips in front of the
Teacher and inexplicably dumps the bowl of water
In the boy's lap.

The boy
Pretends to be angry, but all the while is
Saying to himself, 'Thank you, Lord! Thank you,
Lord!'

Now all of a
Sudden, instead of being the object of ridicule,
The boy is the object of sympathy. The teacher
Rushes him downstairs and gives him gym shorts
To put on while his pants dry out. All the other
Children are on their hands and knees cleaning
Up around his desk.. The sympathy is wonderful.
But as life would have it, the ridicule that
Should have been his has been transferred to
Someone else - Susie.

She tries to
Help, but they tell her to get out. You've done
Enough, you Klutz!'

Finally, at
The end of the day, as they are waiting for the
Bus, the boy walks over to Susie and whispers,
'You did that on purpose, didn't you?' Susie
Whispers back, 'I wet my pants once too.'

May God help
us see the opportunities that are always around
us to do good…

Remember.....Just going to
church doesn't make you a Christian any more
than standing in your garage makes you a car.

Thanks for sharing this Sandra
