CROWN OF REJOICING

Read with  me 1THES. 2:19-20

¹⁹ For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?

²⁰ For ye are our glory and joy.

THE GREATEST WORK YOU ARE PRIVILEGED TO DO FOR THE LORD IS TO BRING OTHERS TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF CHRIST AS PERSONAL SAVIOR.

PAUL TELLS THE THESSALONIAN BELIEVERS THAT THEY ARE HIS”HOPE, OR JOY, OR CROWN OF REJOICING” NOW AND WHEN JESUS COMES.

IT IS WISE TO WIN SOULS TO CHRIST (PROV.11:30). ³⁰ The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

IT IS A WORK AGAINST SIN TO WIN SOULS TO CHRIST JAMES 5:20 ²⁰ Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

It is a cause for joy in heaven to win souls to Christ. LUKE 15:10 ¹⁰ Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

EVERY SOUL WINNER WILL SHINE AS THE STARS FOR EVER

 DAN. 12:3 ³ And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever.

WITNESS WITH YOUR LIFE, LIVE THAT OTHERS MAY SEE CHRIST IN YOU. 2COR 3:2 ² Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:

GAL 2:20 ²⁰ I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

WITNESS WITH YOUR MOUTH, TRUSTING THE HOLY SPIRIT TO GIVE POWER TO THE SPOKEN WORD.  ACTS 1:8 ⁸ But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost  is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

WITNESS BY TITHES  AND OFFERINGS THAT OTHERS MAY PREACH CHRIST AND YOU WILL HAVE “FRUIT (REWARD) THAT MAY ABOUND TO YOUR ACCOUNT” Phil 4:15-17

¹⁵ Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.

¹⁶ For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.

¹⁷ Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.

2 COR 9:6 ⁶ But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully

I await and look forward to rejoice with Jesus. How about you?

BUILD ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

The believer is to build on the Lord Jesus Christ, the only foundation.

I ask myself the question today? What kind of works am I doing for my rewards when I see Jesus? My hope is gold, silver and precious stones and not wood, hay, and stubble.

2Cor 4:18:  While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

MARK 8:35  For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.

(1) THE BELIEVER MUST DENY SELF OF ANYTHING THAT WOULD WEIGH HIM DOWN AND HOLD HIM BACK

(2) THE BELIEVER MUST KEEP HIS EYES FIXED ON CHRIST, AND NOT LOOK TO THE RIGHT OR THE LEFT.

(3) THE BELIEVER MUST FIND HIS STRENGTH IN THE LORD.

(4) THE BELIEVER MUST PLACE HIS ALL UPON THE ALTAR OF THE LORD.

(5) THE BELIEVER MUST BY FAITH, REFUSE ANYTHING THAT WOULD

IMPEDE SPIRITUAL PROGRESS.

DO NOT BE A SPIRITUAL SPECTATOR. ENTER THE RACE AND RUN TO WIN THE “INCORRUPTIBLE CROWN.”

REWARDS

As we continue our Christian Life Study at Union Grove, I thought I’d share a little of this study by Porter Barrington with you today.

There is a vast difference in the doctrine of Salvation for the lost, and the doctrine of rewards for the saved. Salvation is “the gift of god: not of works” Read with me Ephesians 2:8-9: ⁸ For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: ⁹ Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Salvation is received in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ. John said (John 3:36), ³⁶ He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Rewards are according to the works of the believer. Matthew 16:27

 ²⁷ For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

A most revealing scripture on rewards is seen in I Cor. 3:8-15

⁸ Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.

⁹ For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.

¹⁰ According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

¹¹ For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

¹² Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;

¹³ Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

¹⁴ If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

¹⁵ If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

First, every believer will be rewarded according to his own labor. We do not labor for Salvation.

Second, we are labourers together with God not for salvation but for rewards.

Third, the believer is to build on the Lord Jesus Christ, the only foundation.

Fourth, the believer has a choice of two kinds of building materials: “gold, silver, precious stones” this is building with eternal materials; or “wood, hay, stubble” this is building with temporal materials.”

Space will not allow me to go on but I ask myself the question today? What kind of works am I doing for my rewards when I see Jesus? My hope is gold, silver and precious stones and not wood, hay, and stubble. Lord lead us today to greater depths in you I pray.

I close with 2Cor 4:18: ¹⁸ While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

ONE THING WILL I SEEK AFTER

Psalm 27:4 ⁴ One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

Join me today in Psalms 27

27  The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

² When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

³ Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

⁴ One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

⁵ For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

⁶ And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.

⁷ Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

⁸ When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.

⁹ Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

¹⁰ When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.

¹¹ Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.

¹² Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

¹³ I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

¹⁴ Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

Such powerful words from God’s word; I stand in awe as the writer penetrates my heart, my soul, my very being. Lord help me today as I seek your face, help me to wait on you as you guide each step of my way. May my desire always be to dwell in your house forever.
