Will Persecution Bring Revival Today?

Acts 7:54-60

54When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth. 55But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, 56And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. 57Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, 58And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul. 59And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. 60And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

Acts 8:1-4

1And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles. 2And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him. 3As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison. 4Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.

Stephen has just poured his heart out and shared Jesus in hopes they would receive him as their Lord. They rejected the message and killed him. However this persecution continued a revival that would reach all the regions. I ask the question, would revival come if we lost all the comforts of our homes and churches? We pray for revival and we see results here and there but what would it take to open our eyes in this world today to bring people to God.

We have had earthquakes, tornado’s, fires , hurricanes and we pause for a moment or two and we ban together and even go to church. How long does it last a week or two? It’s a shame it takes tragedy to bring us to God. Oh, how God would be pleased and we would be blessed if we would find him and have revival when things are good. God is so good to us. It would be wonderful if we would seek him until revival is prevalent in our lives and our land each moment of the day. Look at the words of Stephen “being full of the Holy Ghost looked up steadfastly (with Assurance), into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God.”

Wow! He had revival even though the word was rejected and he went to glory. What a way to go. Lord help me this day to seek your face and experience revival as I’ve never known it before. May I speak your word with love and proclaim you are my God and Jesus is my Savior in Jesus name I pray.

REMEMBER

“If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1John 1:9
