NEW LIFE AND CHALLENGES

Well, up at the crack of dawn 4:30 am to be exact haven’t been use to this since retirement. This is the day and we are off the hospital to be with my granddaughter (Tiffany) as she gives birth to her first child and our first great grandchild. We pick up Christy and Nana and along with Mamma and me, we arrive and start the morning wait.

Great Aunt Christy and Tina (Tiffany’s mom) go in with the team for the delivery. In a few short minutes we have a picture of Miss Lexi Grace Dasher, 7lbs 3oz, and 21 in. Everyone is beaming including Gene Jr. (new grandpa).

To say the least our whole day was focused on this precious event of God giving life to a new child. She is beautiful and although she faces some challenges, all is well and God will take care.

Just think, in this day and time so many people even in our church world are opting out and destroying precious babies. What a tragedy in our Nation and our world. God never intended it to be that way and he is not pleased when one does it.

Now, we have the awesome responsibility to provide for Lexi and to teach her about God and how his son came and gave his life for us. Who knows what God has in store for her? We sure don’t but we want her to know her whole family is behind her and loves her.

I know we were not expecting this type of writing but forgive the ole great grandpa for being a little braggadocios for one time. It is so precious to see the handy work of God in all he does.

This same God wants to work in and thru you today. Allow him to direct your path and you will see his marvelous hand as you go about your day.

Have a good day. Ready or not JESUS is coming soon. Prepare and be ready to meet him in the air.

Jesus Resurrection

This truth is essential to the gospel.  Why, if Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins and remove our guilt, why is the resurrection of Jesus so important?

i. Although Jesus bore the full wrath of God on the cross, as if He were a guilty sinner, guilty of all our sin, even being made sin for us (2 Corinthians 5:21), He Himself did not become a sinner.   Even the act of taking our sin was an act of holy, giving love for us - so that Jesus Himself did not become a sinner, even though He bore the full guilt of our sin.  This is the gospel message!  That Jesus took our punishment for sin on the cross, and remained a perfect Savior through the whole ordeal - proved by His resurrection.

ii. For this reason, He remained the Holy One (Acts 2:27, 31-32), even in His death.  Since it was incomprehensible that God’s Holy One could be bound by death, the resurrection was absolutely inevitable.

iii. Therefore, the resurrection of Jesus is not some “add on” to a “more important” work on the cross.  If the cross is the payment for our sins, the empty tomb is the receipt, showing that the perfect Son of God made perfect payment for our sins.  The payment itself is of little good without the receipt!  This is why the resurrection of Jesus was such a prominent theme in the evangelistic preaching of the early church (Acts 2:24, 3:15, 4:10, 13:30-39).

iv. The cross was a time of victorious death, a negative triumph.  Sin was defeated, but nothing positive was put in its place until the resurrection.  The resurrection showed that Jesus did not succumb to the inevitable result of sin.  The resurrection is proof of His conquest.

The fact that Jesus rose again the third day is part of the gospel.  Jesus was a unique case.  He did not or will not rise at some “general” resurrection of the dead.  Instead He rose the third day after His death.  This also demonstrates Jesus’ credibility, because He proclaimed He would rise three days after His death (Matthew 16:21, 17:23, and 20:19).

It is so important that we understand where we are at and where we are going. One precious friend Bishop Morris Curry use to strum his instrument and sing “You better be ready, you better be ready, and you better be ready to meet him in the air.”

Are you ready today? If you are that is wonderful. If you are not ready or if you have a doubt take time this moment to prepare to meet Jesus when he returns, it will be worth it all.

TEN THINGS YOU CAN DO IF YOU ARE FACING DIFFICULT TIMES...

1. Remain positive and optimistic: (focus on the Lord, not your problem / open the bible and read, meditate, and speak God's promises over your life)
2. Write down 5 things you're thankful for. (you have a lot to be grateful for)
3. Visit or call a friend to pray with and for you (make sure its someone who is positive)
4. Pray. (God is saying to you, "I see you"
5. Exercise. (Take a walk, go to the gym, go mow your lawn, but do something physical!)
6. Watch christian tv and listen to praise music. (yes I said christian)
7. Go do something for someone in need (there is always someone else whose problem is more challenging than yours!)
8. See the Big picture (you might be facing a difficult time right now, but God is working, moving, and bringing you out into a blessed place)
9. Try something new. (do something you have never done before / kayak, painting, gardening, crafts, baking, hiking, swimming, dancing, volunteering, ect
10. Go to church (God never created us to journey alone. Two are better than one / this is a principle of life

A VETERANS MEMORY LANE

It’s hard to believe it has been 47 years since I was in boot camp at Ft Knox, KY. I had married the love of my life just a year before and we are now separated by the call of duty to my Country, the good ole U S A. Bravo Company with a Drill Sergeant that had just come back from Vietnam. 

Well, here I was 163 lbs soaking wet being drilled to be a soldier and go save my Country. Finishing book camp brought on Advance training which I also completed at Ft Knox. 

Now for our first assignment; our Commander announced that we were the first unit that no one was going to Vietnam. Wow! I waited in line that night at the phone booth to call my wife of one year and tell her I was going to Germany. I would see her on the weekend with a two week leave before deploying.

Next morning, bright and early our Commander fell us out and announced everyone with the last name A-D was to fall out for Vietnam orientation. My mouth dropped and I thought, oh, my goodness, I’ll not call my wife on this one. I waited until I got home. To say the least she was shocked when it finally soaked in we will be apart another year.

Our separation and saying goodbye was one of the hardest things in our lives. We will always be grateful for the plane crew at Chattanooga, TN for allowing us a few extra minutes at the gate.

Well, up, up, and away to my new assignment and my first plane ride 12,000 miles away to a place we had only head about on the news.

Space will not allow me to continue but I want you to know I was blessed to know Jesus then and he is sweeter to me today than ever before. God allowed me to serve my country and come home safe. The prayers of my wife, family and friends played a big role in encouraging me while I was away.

I had to cling to God’s word where he said he would never leave me nor forsake me. Life is not always a bed of roses but I want you to know my God is real and he can help you and provide for you today. Give it all, give it all to Jesus and he will show you the way. 

Do you know the Lord? Then you need nobody else. If you need the Lord he is ever near. Just call his name and he will answer, the line is never busy so what are you waiting for. 

Lord, thank you for this day, thank you for blessing me to know you and still have the love of my life with me after 48 years of marriage. Truly, it gets sweeter and sweeter as the days go by. Thank you for your protection and provision. May I never fail to praise you for all you have done.
