Will The Real Mom Please Stand Up?

This was the title of a sermon by Brian Atwood used on Mother’s Day. He used the story in 1^st Kings 3:16-28 where Solomon was to decide the dispute between two mothers who claimed a child was theirs.

“Solomon said bring a sword and Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other. Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it. Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.” This began to show the people the wisdom of Solomon.

Folks, I agree with Brian when he says there are three things you need to know. 

1. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A PERFECT MOTHER.

2. GOD HAS ANSWERS FOR A MOTHER’S PROBLEMS.

3. THERE’S NOTHING LIKE A MOTHER’S LOVE!

We honor moms for all the giving they do. They remind us of God who is sacrificial and giving. He gave His only Son for a world of wayward children.
That kind of love should not go unnoticed and unappreciated. Respond to moms with great love and appreciation. And respond to the God who created motherhood the same way.

I WAS BLESSED WITH A GOOD MOTHER, GOD FEARING, LOVING, CARING AND GIVING. SHE’S WITH JESUS NOW AND I MISS HER DEARLY TODAY BUT THE STORIES SHE TOLD, THE LIFE SHE LIVED, THE EXAMPLE SHE SET LIVES ON THROUGH ME. 

I HOPE YOU WERE BLESSED WITH A GOOD MOTHER, IF NOT, SET AN EXAMPLE AND BE A GOOD MOTHER TO YOUR CHILDREN. START A NEW TRADITION IN YOUR GENERATION. YOUR CHILDREN WIll RISE UP AND BLESS YOU FOR IT.

YES, YOU SOMETIMES FAIL BUT KEEP ON TRYING SO YOU CAN WRITE A BOOK ON “HOW TO BE A MOTHER.”

I HAVE ADOPTED MOTHERS IN MOST EVERY CHURCH I PASTORED, AND YOU CAN ADOPT ONE TOO AND ALLOW THEM TO BLESS YOU AND ENCOURAGE YOU AND LIFT YOU UP. LOOK AROUND YOU AND HONOR A MOTHER TODAY.
