What Was It Like Christmas Week

It is two days before Christmas and it is a dreary rainy day. I wonder what it was like as Joseph and Mary with child made the trip to Bethlehem to pay their taxes. I’m sure Mary had some discomfort being so close to delivery. But they faithfully made their journey to comply with the laws of the land.

As we continue our journey this week trying to squeeze every minute into our busy season before stores close early, I wonder if we can even imagine what this young girl was thinking or experiencing. What would she do if the baby came while on this journey? Where would she deliver Jesus? We know the prophets foretold it would be in Bethlehem. Was Mary and Joseph aware of this as they traveled?

Well, ready or not Baby Jesus came just as was promised by God. God’s promises always come to past. Jesus became the Savior of the world and he is not in the manager today. He grew up to be a young man and he gave his life for you and me.

Now, we have two things we can do. We can accept Jesus or reject him. There are two promises that go with this too. If you accept Jesus, confess your sin, receive him as your Lord and Savior he has promised you eternal life. If you reject him you will face judgment day without  Jesus and be placed into hell forever and ever.

I choose Jesus, how about you? So, as you continue your business this week, remember God loved you so much that he gave his only begotten son so you could rejoice around the throne with him when this life is over.

Sing it with me “I can hear the brush of angel’s wings, I see glory on each face, surely the presence of the Lord is in this place.” Merry Christmas.

REMEMBER

“If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1John 1:9
