Do You Have Any Idea Where You're Going?

-God

I had on new clothes, New sneakers on my feet.

I was there for class on time, went to the back and took my seat.

Yeah, I'm moving up,
I'm already grown.
Soon I'll be graduating,
And out on my own..

I talked to some of my friends,
we were all having fun.
Said some things I shouldn't have said. Did stuff I shouldn't have done.

I knew I was different. I felt God touch my heart,
I knew I should set a standard,
but then I'd be set apart.

Walking to the bus, I was not looking for strength.
I heard the car tires screeching,
but now it's too late.

I'm standing in this room, and I can see the heavenly gate...
Oh no! I never prayed.
I thought I had time to get it straight!

An angel walked to me, he had a book in his hand.
I knew it was the Book of Life, When would this dream end?
I told him my name,

And he began to look. Then he looked at me sadly and said,
your name is not in this book.

Angel, this is a dream,
No, I can't be dead!
He closed the book and turned away,
He whispered - You cannot proceed ahead.

No...no this can't be real,
Angel, you can't turn me Away.
Let me talk to God, maybe He'll let me stay.

He led me to the gate, Jesus came to me.
He did not let me in but said, "Beloved what is your need?"

Jesus, I cried, please, don
t cast me away from you.
Tears ran down his face as he said, "You knew what you needed to do."

Lord, please I'm young, I never thought I would die...
I thought I'd have plenty of time...Death caught me by surprise.

Lord, I went to church, Please Jesus, I believe.
He said,
You would not accept me, My love you would not receive."
Lord, there were too many hypocrites. They weren't being true.
He took a step back and asked, "What does that have to do with you?"

Lord, my family claimed to be saved, they weren't real. You know.

He said, "I died for you, now I have to go."

I fell to my knees crying to Him, "Lord, I planned to be real tomorrow."

I couldn't make Him understand,
I had never felt such sorrow.

Then it hit me hard, I said, "Lord, where will I go?"

He looked into my eyes
and said, "My child you already know."

Please Jesus, I begged, "The place is so hot."
It seemed to trouble and grieve him, He whispered,

"DEPART FROM ME, I KNOW YOU NOT.

Lord, you're supposed to be love, how can you send me to damnation?

He replied, with your mouth you said you loved me, But each day you
rejected my salvation.

With that in an instant, Day turned into night.

I never knew such torture could be; now too late, I know the Bible is right.

If I can tell you anything, Hell has no age.

It is a place of torture, Separated from God and full of rage.

You know, I thought it was funny, a joke, But this one thing is true.

If you never accept Jesus Christ,
HELL IS WAITING FOR YOU!
So please, ask Him into your heart.

Where Is God #531

Where Is God

Here He is, He's here right now. Grasp hold of this moment and know that He is God. Live for the moment to lift him up and thank Him for being ever present. I am disturbed at so many who proclaim He is not here. I take issue with you when you say there is no God. I take further issue with those who say "Where is God."

Look around you, I see Him everywhere. The rain we needed came today, therein I see God. When I arose this morning He gave me life, health and strength for the day herein I see God. The red birds that fly around my yard and remind me of my father's love for cardinals assure me there is God. There are days we face good and days we face bad things in our life but we see God's hand in it because we know he is God.

Some days I find it good just to shut down all communications with the world and be alone with God. It is so refreshing to have the peace and quite that comes with being along with Him. In times like these I can wait for His still small voice as he understands my thoughts and the intent of my heart. Wow! Try it today, He is so awesome and I'm so glad I can feel His touch as we fellowship together.

Am I crazy? Yes, I am! I'm crazy in love with Jesus. I love God's word and wish those that don't see Him would take time to read and behold God in all His Glory and Majesty. Join me in Psalms 119:169-176 as I mediate with God.

169Let my cry come near before thee, O LORD: give me understanding according to thy word.
170Let my supplication come before thee: deliver me according to thy word.
171My lips shall utter praise, when thou hast taught me thy statutes.
172My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.
173Let thine hand help me; for I have chosen thy precepts.
174I have longed for thy salvation, O LORD; and thy law is my delight.
175Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee; and let thy judgments help me.
176I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.

I'm glad I know where God is; I'm glad I have Jesus in my heart; I hope you know where God is and that you take time with Him today. If you don't know where He is I encourage you to take time to find Him and have fellowship with Him each day.

Happy July 4th America---Freedom Reigns

Lesson That Should Be Taught In All Schools

Back in September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a social studies school teacher at Robinson High School in Little Rock, did something not to be forgotten.

On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed all of the desks from her classroom. When the first period kids entered the room , they discovered that there were no desks.

Looking around, confused, they asked, 'Ms. Cothren, where are our desks?'

She replied, 'You can't have a desk until you tell me what you have done to earn the right to sit at a desk.'

They thought, 'Well, maybe it's our grades.'

'No,' she said.

Maybe it's our behavior.' She told them, 'No, it's not even your behavior.

And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, third period. Still no desks in the classroom.

By early afternoon , television news crews had started gathering in Ms. Cothren's classroom to report about this crazy teacher who had taken all the desks out of her room.

The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seats on the floor of the deskless classroom.

Martha Cothren said, 'Throughout the day no one has been able to tell me just what he/she has done to earn the right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in this classroom. Now I am going to tell you.'

At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it.

Twenty-seven (27) U.S. Veterans, all in uniforms, walked into that classroom, each one carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing the school desks in rows, and then they would walk over and stand alongside the wall.

By the time the last soldier had set the final desk in place , those kids started to understand, perhaps for the first time in their lives, just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned.

Martha said, 'You didn't earn the right to sit at these desks. These heroes did it for you. They placed the desks here for you. Now, it's up to you to sit in them. It is your responsibility to learn, to be good students, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you could have the freedom to get an education. Don't ever forget it.'

God Bless America - and Our Veterans

What Is A Veteran?

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank
check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.'

That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today, who no longer understand that fact. ________________________________________________________________________________
As America celebrates their Independance this week may she remember all those who make it possible for her to have the freedom to worship God and enjoy the life she has today. May we as a Nation put God first at all times and remember the judgement upon a Nation that forgets Him. God is so good to us and He is worthy of all glory, honor and praise as we celebrate.

P.S. My Sister-in-law Peggy has been back in the hospital but is back in rehap. Thanks for your continual prayers for God to raise her up. Everything is moving along slowly.

Thank you for your continual patience as I try to work with this new system. I keep trying different things to reach you and hope you will open your mail so I can see if I got to you. For those of you that have asked about my sister-in-law and are praying for her I thank you. Peggy is in the Life Care Center and was in good spirits when we visited her. Her legs and arm are her main concerns right now. Therapy will continue and your continual prayers for miracles are appreciated.

The Majesty of the Lord

Isaiah 40:25-31

25To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.
26Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.
27Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God?
28Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
29He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

I often pray, Lord take my strengths and make them stronger and take my weaknesses and make them strong in you. When I look at the majesty of the Lord I want to lift up my eyes with adoration and praise for all creation and all he does for me each day. We are so wrapped up with all the negatives in our world that we often overlook the fact that everything is in the palm of his hands. Let us be strong in the Lord and allow his power that never faileth to be our strength as we lean on Him and lean not on our own understanding.

When I try to understand everything I often fail. Therefore I'm trying to renew my strength by waiting upon the Lord. As I wait upon Him I want to be lifted up in his love each day. Somedays it is walking time and somedays it is running time but in God's time everything will happen right on time.

If your mind is boggled down with all that is going on it may be good to turn off the media (TV,etc.) you are using to hear so much and sit quietly in the presence of God. Peace and quiet is rare in any of our homes but I've tried it and I like it. Taking time for God and yourself will elevate the majesty of God and your strength will soar as the eagle.

A Father's Wise Advise #528

Father's Day 2008

Happy Father’s Day to all our dads out there. Once a year we take time to say thank you for all you've done but we should remember to do it everyday.
One writer defines father as God or male parent. I always want to remember my God who is my heavenly Father. I also want to remember that male parent I call dad. I was blessed with a God fearing loving dad and I'm thankful for all he taught me about the love of God. Although he has been gone 23 years my three brothers and I cling to his God who is our God for direction each day. I know some of you will not believe I am using something besides KJV but I hope this speaks to you as it did to me.

Proverbs 4 (New Living Translation)(Tyndale)

A Father’s Wise Advice

1 My children,[a] listen when your father corrects you. Pay attention and learn good judgment,
2 for I am giving you good guidance.
Don’t turn away from my instructions.
3 For I, too, was once my father’s son,
tenderly loved as my mother’s only child.
4 My father taught me,
“Take my words to heart.
Follow my commands, and you will live.
5 Get wisdom; develop good judgment.
Don’t forget my words or turn away from them.
6 Don’t turn your back on wisdom, for she will protect you.
Love her, and she will guard you.
7 Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do!
And whatever else you do, develop good judgment.
8 If you prize wisdom, she will make you great.
Embrace her, and she will honor you.
9 She will place a lovely wreath on your head;
she will present you with a beautiful crown.”
10 My child,[b] listen to me and do as I say,
and you will have a long, good life.
11 I will teach you wisdom’s ways
and lead you in straight paths.
12 When you walk, you won’t be held back;
when you run, you won’t stumble.
13 Take hold of my instructions; don’t let them go.
Guard them, for they are the key to life.
14 Don’t do as the wicked do,
and don’t follow the path of evildoers.
15 Don’t even think about it; don’t go that way.
Turn away and keep moving.
16 For evil people can’t sleep until they’ve done their evil deed for the day.
They can’t rest until they’ve caused someone to stumble.
17 They eat the food of wickedness
and drink the wine of violence!
18 The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn,
which shines ever brighter until the full light of day.
19 But the way of the wicked is like total darkness.
They have no idea what they are stumbling over.
20 My child, pay attention to what I say.
Listen carefully to my words.
21 Don’t lose sight of them.
Let them penetrate deep into your heart,
22 for they bring life to those who find them,
and healing to their whole body.
23 Guard your heart above all else,
for it determines the course of your life.
24 Avoid all perverse talk;
stay away from corrupt speech.
25 Look straight ahead,
and fix your eyes on what lies before you.
26 Mark out a straight path for your feet;
stay on the safe path.
27 Don’t get sidetracked;
keep your feet from following evil.

Dad I plan to meet you in heaven when my journey is complete and I desire as you to help those I'm entrusted with to join us with Jesus around the throne of God.

Eagle

In our life today we often wonder just what is going on and what is going to happen next. The story of the Eagle is so uplifting. I would like to share it with you today. For those of you that continue to pray for my sister-in-law I thank you. Peggy is in need of a miracle from the Lord with the two broken legs, broken arm, ribs, and sternum. She is my brother Paul's wife and loves her family and the Lord.

Flying Above the Storm

Did you know that an eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it breaks?

The eagle will fly to some high spot and wait for the winds to come.

When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it high above the storm.

While the storm rages below, the eagle is soaring high above it, gliding with ease.

The eagle does not escape the storm, it just simply uses the storm to lift it higher.

It rises on the winds that bring the storm into its world.

When the storms of life come upon us, and all of us will experience them, we can rise above them by setting our minds and faith toward God!

The storms do not have to overcome us.

We can allow God to lift us above them. God enables us to ride the winds of the storm that brings sickness, pain, tragedy, failure and disappointment in our lives, and make something good of it.

We can soar above the storm.

Remember, it is not the burdens of life which weigh us down, but it is how we handle them that counts.
--Unknown

It is wonderful to know God touches people to write what is on their heart to inspire us and carry us to the unknown regions in our life. God is faithful, he is mercyful and we give glory to him for all he is in our heart and life today.
Allow God to feed you right now as you read. He alone can satisfy your soul as you walk in him and grow in his love.

Summer Is Here

The birds are churping, the morning dew is fading faster, children are running to and fro and not in school. Once again little voices cry out to mom and dad and say let's go, go, go.

Have you planted that garden yet? Have you planned that vacation? Do you have the little ones clothes ready for camp. Are you ready for this busy season? Well, usually it is upon us before we get everything done and its over before we know it.
I am one that loves this time of year. I love to look at the handy work of God and behold all its slendor and beauty. It makes me want to sing praises unto our merciful God who created us and all our universe. It makes me do as David as he praised the Lord with his whole heart as he does in Psalm 138. Join me in praise as we read.

1I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee.
2I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
3In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.
4All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O LORD, when they hear the words of thy mouth.
5Yea, they shall sing in the ways of the LORD: for great is the glory of the LORD.
6Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.
7Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.
8The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

As we go our busy way today may we continue to make time for God, His word, and all his creation. Make time for your family today and all summer. You will be blessed and its precious moments you will never replace.

The Law of the Garbage Truck

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were
driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a
parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his
brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver
of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.
My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was
really friendly.

So I asked, "Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your
car and sent us to the hospital!" This is when my taxi driver taught
me what I now call, "The Law of the Garbage Truck."
He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run
around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full
of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to
dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it
personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't
take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on
the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks
take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with
regrets, so..... "Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't." (Thanks for sharing Jackie)

Oh God! Oh God! Oh God!

As I arise this morning I cry out Oh God! Oh God! Oh God! Lord I wait on you this morning for answers for strength from thy word for the day. Over the years people have cried out to thee for direction and help, I want to be able to cry unto you as they have and know your will as I continue this journey on earth with you.

Lord there are so many in need that I cry out for your will in their lives. Lord there are so many with cancer, heart problems, financial problems, other health problems, and family problems that only you have an answer for today. Lord help us be all that we can through you to help share the load all of these are caring.

Oh God! Thou art worthy of all honor and praise. Lord I lift your name up today knowing you are with each of us and that you will take us safely thru all we face. Lord encourage each one that is on our hearts and minds this morning and if it be thy will to take them home pour an extra cup of honey on the love ones, Lord let them see your hand and know your will today.

Lord I stand in need of your word today, I ask you to give me thy word to minister to those you have entrusted me with. Lord feed me that I might feed them and help them grow in you and your love.

As I often do Lord, I want to cry out from Psalms because it gives me strength. Lord I know your faithfulness is unto all generations. So I cry out from Psalms 119:89-97:

Forever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven. Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth and it abideth. They continue this day according to thine ordinances: for all are thy servants. Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction. I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me. I am thine, save me; for I have sought thy precepts. The wicked have waited for me to destroy me: but I will consider thy testimonies. I have seen an end of all perfection: but thy commandment is exceeding broad. O how love I thy law! It is my meditation all the day.

Oh God! Oh God! Oh God! I feel your sweet presence so near. Thank you Lord, thank you Lord, I love you more and more each day as you teach me your ways. Discouraged? No! Encouraged? Yes! God's word lifts you higher and higher as you read and allow Him to feed you.

Yes, I will sing it over and over again, "Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee, How great thou art, how great thou art."

The Old Phone

When I was quite young, my father had one of the first telephones in our neighborhood. I remember the polished, old case fastened to the wall.
The shiny receiver hung on the side of the box. I was too little to reach the telephone, but used to listen with fascination when my mother talked to it.

Then I discovered that somewhere inside the wonderful device lived an amazing person. Her name was 'Information Please' and there was nothing she did not know. Information Please could supply anyone's number and the correct time.

My personal experience with the genie-in-a-bottle came one day while my Mother was visiting a neighbor. Amusing myself at the tool bench in the basement, I whacked my finger with a hammer, the pain was terrible, but there seemed no point in crying because there was no one home to give sympathy.

I walked around the house sucking my throbbing finger, finally arriving at the stairway. The telephone! Quickly, I ran for the footstool in the parlor and dragged it to the landing Climbing up, I unhooked the receiver in the parlor and held it to my ear.
'Information, please' I said into the mouthpiece just above my head.
A click or two and a small clear voice spoke into my ear.
'Information.'

'I hurt my finger...' I wailed into the phone, the tears came readily
Enough now that I had an audience.

'Isn't your mother home?' came the question.

'Nobody's home but me,' I blubbered.

'Are you bleeding?' the voice asked.

'No,' I replied. 'I hit my finger with the hammer and it hurts.'

'Can you open the icebox?' she asked.

I said I could.

'Then chip off a little bit of ice and hold it to your finger,' said the voice.

After that, I called 'Information Please' for everything. I asked her
For help with my geography, and she told me where Philadelphia was. She helped me with my math. She told me my pet chipmunk that I had caught in the park just the day before, would eat fruit and nuts.

Then, there was the time Petey, our pet canary, died. I called,
Information Please,' and told her the sad story. She listened, and then said things grown-ups say to soothe a child. But I was not consoled. I asked her, 'Why is it that birds should sing so beautifully and bring joy to all families, only to end up as a heap of feathers on the bottom of a cage?'

She must have sensed my deep concern, for she said quietly, 'Wayne, Always remember that there are other worlds to sing in.'

Somehow I felt better.

Another day I was on the telephone, 'Information Please.'

'Information,' said in the now familiar voice.

'How do I spell fix?' I asked.

All this took place in a small town in the Pacific Northwest. When I was nine years old, we moved across the country to Boston. I missed my friend very much. 'Information Please' belonged in that old wooden box back home and I somehow never thought of trying the shiny new phone that sat on the table in the hall. As I grew into my teens, the memories of those childhood conversations never really left me.

Often, in moments of doubt and perplexity I would recall the serene sense of security I had then. I appreciated now how patient,
understanding, and kind she was to have spent her time on a little boy.

A few years later, on my way west to college, my plane put down in
Seattle I had about a half-hour or so between planes. I spent 15
minutes or so on the phone with my sister, who lived there now. Then without thinking what I was doing, I dialed my hometown Operator and said, 'Information Please.'

Miraculously, I heard the small, clear voice I knew so well.
'Information.'

I hadn't planned this, but I heard myself saying, 'Could you please tell me how to spell fix?'

There was a long pause. Then came the soft spoken answer, 'I guess your finger must have healed by now.'

I laughed, 'So it's really you,' I said. 'I wonder if you have any idea how much you meant to me during that time?'

I wonder,' she said, 'if you know how much your call meant to me. I
never had any children and I used to look forward to your calls.'

I told her how often I had thought of her over the years and I asked if I could call her again when I came back to visit my sister.
'Please do', she said. 'Just ask for Sally.'

Three months later I was back in Seattle A different voice answered
'Information.' I asked for Sally.

'Are you a friend?' she said.

'Yes, a very old friend,' I answered.

'I'm sorry to have to tell you this,' she said.
'Sally had been working part-time t he last few years because she was sick. She died five weeks ago.'

Before I could hang up she said, 'Wait a minute, did you say your name was Wayne ?'

'Yes.' I answered.

'Well, Sally left a message for you. She wrote it down in case you called.

Let me read it to you.'
The note said, 'Tell him there are other worlds to sing in.
He'll know what I mean.'

I thanked her and hung up. I knew what Sally meant.

Never underestimate the impression you may make on others.

Whose life have you touched today?

Why not pass this on? I just did....

Lifting you on eagle's wings. May you find the joy and peace you long for.

Life is a journey ... NOT a guided tour. So don't miss the ride and have a great time going around you don't get a second shot at it.

I loved this story and just had to pass it on. I hope you enjoy it and
get a blessing from it just as I did.

I know this one has been around awhile but just like the word of God it does us good to take and read it again.

How To Pray For Other People #521

How To Pray For Other People

How many people in your life could be touched if you prayed in this way?

Colossians 1:3 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you.

1. Be thankful for their changed lives.

Colossians 1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.

2. Ask God to help them know what he wants them to do.

3. Ask God to give them deep spiritual understanding

Colossinas 1:10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.

4. Ask God to help them live for him.

5. Ask God to give them more knowledge of himself.

Colossians 1:11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness.

6. Ask God to give them strength for endurance.

7. Ask God to fill them with joy, strength, and thankfulness.

Lord help us as Christians to not leave a new convert alone. Lord help us to reach out to them with love as they begin to grow in you. May each convert know we are their for them as they seek the will of God in their life.
Don't assume anything about a person when they are seeking the Lord. Take time to talk to them and ask them how you can help them pray. One time I was visiting a revival in my area and as the invitation was given I saw a young man in the altar praying. Everyone was rejoicing and having a good time and I ask one person what is he seeking God for and they told me he was seeking to be filled with the Holy Ghost.
I watched a few minutes and got down by the young man and ask him how I could help him pray. He said he was walking down the street and heard the music and came in and came forth when the invitation was given. He wanted to be saved but didn't know how to pray.
I ask him if he would join me over to the side and I would teach him how to pray. He received Jesus that night and some time later I was at a church conference and he walked up and ask me if I remembered him. I said I don't think so. He started to tell me when I prayed with him. He said here is my family, we are all saved and attending the church you were visiting.
Folks, take time to help people. It's okay to rejoice but don't overlook the need others have around you. (Some notes used from Tyndale Life Application Bible)

This is It! First Surfing with Jesus

We finally have it. Thank you for your patience and prayers. When I began Surfing with Jesus I never dreamed it would reach so many people and Nations. Thank you for allowing me in your life.

My goal is still the same as day one when I sent an email to four or five family members and friends. My sole desire is to uplift Christ, fellow Christians, and share the love of Jesus with others.

We did lose a few addresses with the change over so I would appreciate your help in sharing Surfing with Jesus with your friends and maybe we can gain some back.

Psalms 139:23-24 "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."

Lord, this is my prayer tonight. May my heart be your heart and as you try me; may my thoughts be your thoughts. Lead me Lord, touch me, and direct me in the way everlasting. I love you Lord. Thank you for your love.

Father, Into Thy Hands I Commend My Spirit #519

Father, Into Thy Hands I commend My Spirit

Have you reached this place in God? When we try anything else, we fail.
The writer wrote this song "How Long Has It Been."

How long has it been since you talked with the Lord
And told him your heart's hidden secrets?
How long since you prayed?
How long since you stayed?
On your knees till the light shone through?
How long has it been since your mind felt at ease?
How long since your heart knew no Burden?
Can you call Him you friend?
How long has it been since you knew that He cared for you?

Jesus cried out on the cross ? Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit and having said thus he gave up the ghost.? Luke 23:46. Lord help me today to commend my spirit into your hands and die out to this world and all that comes my way.

Often when we pray we fail to thank God for all he is doing in our lives. Instead we bring before him our wants and desires and not our needs for the day. I wonder if the Lord looks at us and asks if we will ever get to the place where Jesus did of complete surrender to Him?

I wonder if God gets amused at us and even laughs as we pick up things and go about our busy life and work our heart out to get things done and fail to say ?Father I commend this day into your hands?

Do you come home exhausted and wonder why you didn?t get it all done today? Did you take time to share your hearts secrets with the Lord? Did you take it to him in prayer and stay on your knees until the light flashed and you know it was God?s plan for the day?

Perhaps, with all the new technology you have it would lighten your load if you committed the day to Jesus before you began the day instead of after you have gone your way and come home exhausted.

The old kneeolgy of staying on your knees until the light shines through will enhance your wonderful ideas and technology to shine for the entire world to see. Will you join me this moment in commending your spirit into the hands of God? You will be blessed as you learn to cry out to our Heavenly Father, ?not my will but your will be done.?

Jesus Opens Their Understanding

After the Resurrection there was quite a bit of excitement that took place among Jesus followers and as they begin to reason among themselves on what had taken place and who had seen Jesus as he appears and says "Peace be unto you."
I don't know about you but this would have been exciting and spooky too. Join me as Jesus opens their eyes.

Luke 24:45-53

45Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
46And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48And ye are witnesses of these things.
49And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
50And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.
51And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
52And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
53And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

Wow! This was quite an experience for those who followed Jesus. One day he is being praised by the people, then he is put to death, and now he is walking with them and behold he blesses them and is carried up into heaven.

Do you think you could have handled all of this in such a short period of time? Just think what a day that will be when we join Jesus in Heaven.

However, don't overlook what he said before the Ascension. He tells them to tarry until they are endued with power from on high. We still need to be endued with this same power today so we can do what he left us to do. He started a good work but he is looking for us to preach repentance and remission of sins to all the world so they too will be ready to be received in heaven when God says it is finished.

Let us join the saints of old and worship him, bless him, and rejoice as we share the love of Jesus with our world. Let us have great joy as souls are won to Christ. Praise the Lord.

Rise and Pray

Have you given much thought to the events leading up to the crucifixion of Christ this week? Have you wondered what was going on with Mary and Joseph? Have you thought about what Jesus said to the disciples when he said "Pray that ye enter not into temptation? There are so many things that went on but he took time to pray. Read with me.

Luke 22 39-46

39And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.
40And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.
41And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,
42Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
43And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.
44And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
45And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,
46And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

Yes, Jesus the son of God knew how important it was for him to rise up and pray as he faced death on the cross. As he knelt he ask our Heavenly Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me.

Have you ever had a cup you wanted God to remove from you? I'm sure we all have but it is special when Jesus set us the supreme example by continuing to pray and say not my will, but thine, be done.

Oh, how important it is to be willing to submit to the will of God. As we celebrate the death burial and Resurection of Jesus this week, may we remember he came not to condem or judge but he came to save the Lost. May we have this same desire as we share the love of Jesus and tell everyone of the need of man to repent and return unto God.

Don't Give Up...
Author Unknown

One day I decided to quit...I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality. .. I wanted to quit my life.I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.
"God", I asked, "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?"
His answer surprised me..."Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?"
"Yes", I replied.
"When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.
In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. He said.
"In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit.
In year four, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed. I would not quit." He said.
"Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant. ..But just 6months later the bamboo rose to over 100" I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you."
"Don't compare yourself to others." It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive.I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle.
"He asked me. "Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots".
He said. "The bamboo had a different Purpose than the fern. Yet they both make the forest beautiful.""Your time will come", God said to me. "You will rise high"
"How high should I rise?" I asked."How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return."As high as it can?" I questioned."Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."
I left the forest and brought back this story. I hope these words can help you see that God will never give up on you.Never, Never, Never Give up.For the Christian Prayer is not an option but an opportunity.

Join me in your Bible in 1Corinthians 10:13

"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."

God is faithful and worthy of all our praise. Man faces many things today that may tempt him to give up and feel there is no way of making it. Our media paints a terrible picture of our world and it gets worse each day. However, when we trust in Jesus and lean not on our own understanding we know everything will be alright.

In Nelson's Open Bible notes the writer gives a good thought. It says the New Testament contains the rules for believers who would enter the spiritual race to win the incorruptible crown.

1. The believer must deny self of anything that would weigh him down and hold him back
2. The believer must keep his eyes fixed on Christ, and not look to the right or the left.
3. The believer must find his strength in the Lord.
4. The believer must place his all upon the altar of the Lord.
5. The believer must, by faith , refuse anything that would impede spiritual progress

Do not be a spiritual spectator. Enter the race and run to win the crown of life and hear Him say well done thou good and faithful servant.

Stand Fast in the Lord #514

Stand Fast in the Lord

Join me in Philippians Chapter 4 for a moment.

“1…, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.
4Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.
5Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
6Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.”

Paul was a jail bird at this time in life yet he encourages us to rejoice. When things are going wrong for us we sometimes want to give up but we need to think on WWJD that our young people use today which means “What Would Jesus Do?”

I was encouraged this week with the writing from one of my e-mail friends as he told about Valentine’s Day for his family. On one Valentine Day his dad died but he wanted his family to tell the world he was with the Lord. Then, on another Valentine Day, a wonderful grandchild was born. These events bring both joy and sadness to our mind but what is important is the love of Jesus and where you are with Christ today.

Paul did some of his best writings while limited to what he could do but he always found a way to talk about the peace of God as he brings understand and helps us keep our hearts and minds on Christ Jesus.

I cry out with Paul today for you to rejoice in the Lord and repeat it over and over again in your heart. Rejoice in the Lord! Worry will not bring an answer but thinking on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely and of a good report will help you do what you have learned, received , heard, and seen of Paul and others in God’s word. When you commit it all to Jesus and let him have his way with you, I believe “the God of peace shall be with you.” Again, I say “Rejoice in the Lord, always.”

Our Heavenly Father Watches Over Us #512

Surfing with Jesus #51201302008
Pastor Gene A. Dasher, Sr.

Our Heavenly Father Watches Over Us

This story I found interesting. It is the legend of the Cherokee Indian youth's rite of passage. His father takes him into the forest, blindfolds him and leaves him alone. He is required to sit on a stump the whole night and not remove the blindfold until the rays of the morning sun shone through it. He cannot cry out for help to anyone. Once he survives the night, he is a MAN. He cannot tell the other boys of this experience, because each lad must come into manhood on his own.

The boy is naturally terrified. He can hear all kinds of noises. Wild beasts must surely be all around him. Maybe even some human might do him harm. The wind blew the grass and earth, and shook his stump, but he sat stoically, never removing the blindfold. It would be the only way he could become a man! Finally, after a horrific night the sun appeared and he removed his blindfold. It was then that he discovered his father sitting on the stump next to him. He had been at watch the entire night, protecting his son from harm.

I don’t know the validity of this story but it has a very good lesson. We, too, are never alone. Even when we don't know it, our Heavenly Father is watching over us, sitting on the stump beside us. When trouble comes, all we have to do is to be still & reach out to Him. What a wonderful God we serve. He alone is worthy of our praise.

Remember this one? “I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free, His eyes are on the sparrow, and I know he watches me.” Rest assured he watches over you and is ever present to provide for you.

Thank You For My Friends #511

Pastor Gene A. Dasher, Sr.

gene@SurfingwithJesus.com

Thank You for My Friends

I sit here this morning thinking of and praying for my dear friends who continue to put their whole heart and life into ministering to others as they serve Jesus throughout the world.

There is Dan and Sharon and their children as they lead the way in Japan where numbers are often small and little support is given because of this. However after serving nearly 40 years, I see them excited about proclaiming Jesus to this nation. God will provide for them because he is an on time God.

I see Paul and others who keep in touch in India against all odds as they see fellow labors homes, churches, and families destroyed. I pray Lord lift them up this morning, protect them and provide for them as they share their love of Jesus at the very expense of losing their lives.

I hear from Pakistan and how unpopular it is to be a Christian yet they continue on for God. Thank you Lord for these faithful friends.

I received a note from Paul who recently gave up a nice church in Tennessee and took his family to Honduras and is so excited about working with Curt and Cheryl with the deaf ministry. Lord bless them this morning. Curt has had another serious bout with cancer this week and needs a touch of God; lift him up in your prayers.

Join me in prayer for ministers like John who continue to pastor while in his 80’s but loves God and people so much he just keeps on going.

Several friends from different parts of Africa labor for the master each day in hopes of reaching one more soul. There are so many giving and giving until it hurts.

Lord, there are so many but you see them all and we ask you to touch them with your loving had of mercy. I know I will forget someone but you Lord will not let them down.

I pray for John who ministers with the laborers in CIS in Ukraine, Russia Siberia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and China, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Mongolia, Armenia and the Baltic States. While the window is open Lord give us these souls for your harvest.

Lord bless Gary and those laboring in Nigeria, Bulgaria, Pakistan, Russia, Nepal, India, Burma, and China, many of these go literally into the hedges and byways to reach souls for Jesus.

And then, there is Charles, 81, worked over 60 years for the Lord in many areas of the world but still has a heart for a door that has been opened in China to be walked in so China can hear about Jesus. Provide while the door is open Lord so we may reach these souls.

Yes, Lord, is what these and others have said to your will and your way and we want to lift them up in prayer and we want to thank you for allowing them to be our friends in ministry today.

And oh yes, I would never fail to be thankful to those who are at home who continue to labor with love to help sustain all these on the field. Bless our local ministers and ministries as we continue to hear the cry and send forth new workers and monies to see the needs met in all ministries in Jesus name I pray.

Forgive my indulgence this morning but all fellow labors need to be lifted up with love, prayer, and thanksgiving. Thank you Lord, I am blessed with so many friends.
Thank you my friends for your love and prayers and for allowing me in your life today.

Yes, Jesus is the one, yes he’s the only one, let him have his way until the day is done, and when he speaks you know the clouds will have to go, just because he loves you so. Thank you Jesus!

From the Abundance of the Heart the Mouth Speaks #510

From the Abundance of the Heart the Mouth Speaks

What is on your heart tonight? What is your mouth speaking? Good things from the Lord I hope. Join me in the word.

Matthew 12:34-37
34O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
35A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
36But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
37For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Luke 6:39-45
39And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?
40The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.
41And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
42Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.
43For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
44For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
45A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

Sometimes, we are amazed at man’s actions and deeds. As we look at the Bible, we can see these things didn’t just happen but were in the heart of man before they manifested themselves. Both good and bad can come forth depending on what we’ve allowed to be hid away in out heart.

Perhaps, this is a very valid reason to hide the word of God away in our heart knowing that it will help us not sin against God. All of us fight against the vices of the devil. We can learn a very good lesson from Jesus as we see him on top of the mountain and Satan continued to throw one more temptation before him. We like Jesus need to have one more verse of God’s word to remind Satan that the battle is the Lord’s and the victory is won in Jesus. As Jesus shines forth from our heart we will speak peace and victory from our mouth and Satan will flee in defeat.

My daughter sings a song that sums it up. “The battle’s not mine said little David, Lord it’s thine, I’m in your favor, I’ve given it all to you, for I know not what to do. And I’m so glad you let me see, you’re really all that I need, the battle’s not mine, I give it to you, Lord it’s thine.”

Where Is God #509

I want to thank Pastor Thompson who wrote this article for allowing me to share it. I feel it will be strength to many of you that have shared prayer request. Allow God to bless you with it.

DAILY-E-VOTIONAL(BLESSINGS FROM THE HEART)
Pastor Cecil A. Thompson, January 7, 2008

"WHERE IS GOD?"
John 17:9-11
"I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those You have given Me, for they are Yours. All I have is Yours, and all You have is Mine. And glory has come to Me through them. I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to You. Holy Father, protect them by the power of Your name—the name You gave Me—so that they may be one as We are one."

"Where is God when I need Him?" "If God is a God of love, why did He take my loved one?" "If there really is a God, why does He allow such terrible things to happen in our world?" "Why does God answer some prayers, yet seemingly ignore others?" "Why do the righteous seem to endure hardships while the wicked seem to prosper?" Have you heard these questions before? Have you asked these questions before?

I was sitting beside the hospital bed of our oldest daughter, Brenda. The doctors had made the prognosis that she had a very short time to live---possibly a matter of days. Brenda commented, "You know dad, I think I have been cheated." I acted innocent although I was sure that I knew what she was referring to. She continued, "Grandpa lived to be 74. I am only 33. I feel that I have been cheated out of half of my life!"

That night I went into the garage and swept some sand onto a sheet of paper. I sat at the kitchen table and carefully counted out 74 grains of sand. I placed these in a small sample perfume bottle. The next day when I went to the hospital, I placed the small vial on Brenda's bed. She asked; "What is that? I told her it was grandpa, or at least the number of grains of sand that represented the years of his life.

I asked her to imagine that each of these small grains of sand represented one year. Next imagine that the entire world to its very core was entirely made up of sand. That would be only a small iota of the length of eternity. "Now," I asked, "What are these 74 small grains in comparison to our world of sand?" Brenda replied; "Nothing." I then asked; "What is one half of nothing?" We began to laugh together.

The reality is that it is eternity that matters, not the length of our life or even the quality of our life. It is being washed in the blood of Jesus and becoming a new creation in Him that prepares us for eternity. Not the things we do for Him, but by accepting what He has done for us.

Jesus told a wonderful parable of the rich man and Lazarus. Here was a man who seemingly had all that the world could offer, yet he had made no provision for eternity. By not receiving eternal life in Christ, he was damned to a terrible eternity of suffering. Lazarus was just the opposite. He had experienced poverty and pain in his life, but he had also received the Lord as his Savior. His eternity was filled with peace and blessedness.

You may have recognized today's Scripture as being part of the prayer which Jesus prayed for His disciples. The prayer was not restricted to the disciples of His day, but for us as well. He wants His disciples of all ages to focus our attention on Him, not the temporal things which will pass away.

Let me share a little more of the prayer Jesus prayed in our behalf. John 17:14-19; "I have given them Your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that You take them out of the world but that You protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; Your Word is truth. As You sent Me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify Myself, that they too may be truly sanctified."

The Lord Jesus has prayed for our sanctification. That means that we are to turn from sin and walk in a new sense of commitment and dedication. Let's quit trying to play God by blaming Him or questioning the things that occur in our life.

One last verse. Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."

Blessings dear hearts. Walk with God today, trust Him completely and be a blessing. ---Pastor Cecil (You may SUBSCRIBE or UNSUBSCRIBE by visiting: https://listserv.reachone.com/e-cast/mail.cgi/list/cecil)

No Excuse Sunday #508

Surfing with Jesus #50801052008
Pastor Gene A. Dasher, Sr.
gene@SurfingwithJesus.com

Ok, after reading this writing you should be able to start the New Year out in church with no excuse. So, let’s get up and be on time for the next service.

NO EXCUSE SUNDAY

To make it possible for everyone to attend church next Sunday, we are going
to have a special "No Excuse Sunday".

Cots will be placed in the foyer for those who say, "Sunday is my only
day to sleep in."

There will be a special section with lounge chairs who feel that our pews
are too hard.

Eye drops will be available for those with tired eyes from watching T.V.
late Saturday night.

We will have steel helmets for those who say “The roof would cave in if I
ever came to church."

Blankets will be furnished for those who think the church is too cold and
fans for those who say it is too hot.

Score cards will be available for those who wish to list the hypocrites
present.

Relatives and friends will be in attendance for those who can't go to church
and cook dinner, too.

We will distribute "Stamp Out Stewardship" buttons for those who feel that
church is always asking for money.

One section will be devoted to trees and grass for those who like to seek
God in nature.

Doctors and nurses will be in attendance for those who plan to be sick on
Sunday.

The sanctuary will be decorated with both Christmas poinsettias and Easter
lilies for those who never have seen the church without them.

We will provide hearing aids for those who can't hear the preacher and
cotton for those who say he is too loud.

What You Do For Christ Will Last #507

What You Do For Christ Will Last

Matthew 6:1-4, 6

1Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
2Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
3But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

4That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly…
6But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

As we end 2007 and start a new year 2008 I ponder on these verses. I wonder what I can do for Christ in the year ahead. There are so many hurting people today both those that know Christ and those that do not know Christ that need our help and our love that I wonder where I begin.

I think we can come to the Lord in secret in our prayer closet and he will guide us to do his will for these that are hurting. Matthew 6:8 tells us

8Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

Since this verse tells me God knows our needs before we ask I am crying unto him today to provide my needs and thereby I will have direction to help those in need who come my way.

I pray, Lord open my eyes that I will see and behold your will for this day and in the days you give me in the year ahead. There is such joy doing what you know is God’s will in your life.

I ask you to join me in prayer for the year ahead that we will reach out to the lost and to those with other needs and realize that we are blessed and what we do for Christ will last for eternity.
